Japan permanent-residence route guide

A guide to Japan's long-term residence entry points, permanent-residence routes, residence periods, separate applications and official sources. A visa or residence period is not an automatic grant of permanent residence.

Only records with complete current review coverage and official sources are shown.

Ordinary ten-year permanent-residence route

The standard permanent-residence route used by many work and business statuses. It requires a separate application and review; holding a long-term status for ten years does not itself grant permanent residence.
